Venue Hire Charges

Learn more about the hire fees, charges and bonds associated with hiring one of our Community Halls or Facilities.

Hall Hire FAQs

We encourage that you check availability of your preferred date and time by calling our Community Facilities Team on 02 9707 5770 during business hours or complete an Enquiry Form for Community Hall Hire online.

No bookings can be taken over the phone and no spaces held. To book a facility, please submit an Application for Casual Hall Hire for Community Halls and Centres online. A booking can only be accepted and confirmed once full payment of hire fees and applicable bonds has been received.

The total hire cost of your booking depends on the category of the hall that you wish to hire along with the timing and day of your event. In addition to the hire cost, a security bond must also be paid for all hall hire bookings.  We encourage you to learn more about the fees and charges associated with your booking by visiting the Venue Hire Charges page or contacting our Community Facilities Team on 02 9707 5770

Your booking is considered confirmed when you receive a Confirmation Letter from Council and a receipt of payment.

The Community Facilities team will generally contact you directly in the week leading up to you booking to arrange a suitable time for collection of keys, alarm codes or Swipe Access Cards for the facility you have booked. Keys can be collected one (1) business day prior to your booking from our Bankstown Customer Service Centre, located on the Upper Ground Floor of Civic Tower at 66-72 Rickard Road Bankstown or as otherwise arranged with the Community Facilities team.

Access to the facility, including all set up and pack down, is strictly limited to the booked day(s) and time(s) listed on your Confirmation Letter. Unfortunately, you are unable to access the hall or facility before commencement of your confirmed hire.

The hall must also be fully vacated, closed and re-armed (if applicable) by the conclusion time listed on your Confirmation Letter. Entering the facility early or overstaying your hire will be considered a breach of hire and a penalty of double the hourly rate may be deducted from the security bond.

All of Council's halls and facilities are equipped with tables and chairs based on the capacity of the spaces.

We encourage you to view each individual venue webpage for more information on the number of chairs and tables provided.

For your own reference, the following standard dimensions for the tables and chairs:

  • Standard table dimensions are: Height 740mm, Length 1830mm, width 760mm.
  • In Greenacre Citizens' Centre, Helen Westwood Chester Hill Community Centre (Blue Hall) and Georges Hall Community Centre: H: 720mm, L: 1800mm W: 750mm.
  • Chair dimensions are: Height 740mm, width 450mm, Bucket seat 445mm.

Decorations are permitted but no pins are to be used. No balloons, signs or streamers are to be hung from the ceiling or fans.

Decorations must be removed completely by the finish time indicated on your Confirmation Letter. If additional cleaning is required as a result of decorations being left in the hall or damage to walls, this may result in an additional Cleaning Fee being deducted the security bond paid.

Helium balloons are only permitted on weights and must be removed by the finish time and disposed of responsibly.

We encourage you to refer to the Terms and Conditions of Hire.

The kitchen is bare. You will need to bring garbage bags, tablecloths, detergent, dishcloths, tea towels, serving utensils, plates, cups, cutlery, etc. You also need to carry your Letter of Confirmation from Council at all times whilst onsite as Security staff or patrolling Council Rangers may request to view this.

You are required to wipe down all tables and chairs that you have used, and stack them neatly back in their designated areas. Please sweep floor, ensuring all rubbish has been picked up. Place all rubbish and decorations in garbage bags. If you have used the kitchen, please clean it and leave it the way you found it. Failure to leave the facility the way you found it will result in any additional cleaning costs being deducted from your bond. When leaving the hall make sure all doors are closed and locked. If the hall has an alarm, please follow the instructions located on your key tag and information sheet. You must set the alarm as you exit from the hall.

Alcohol is permitted on the premises for private functions and in accordance with the Liquor Act 2007, alcohol must be consumed in a responsible manner at all times. Alcohol must not be sold at any Council facility without prior approval. The Hirer understands that they must obtain an appropriate Liquor Licence from NSW Liquor and Gaming and provide a copy of this to Council prior to the event taking place

Smoking or vaping is not permitted within any of Council’s facilities under the Smoke-Free Environment Act 2000. It is the responsibility of the Hirer to ensure this condition is strictly enforced and adhered to by all patrons and guests attending the Hirer’s event.

There may be some designated outdoor areas where smoking is permitted and signposted.

There are only a limited number of facilities were jumping castles are permitted, subject to approval from Council. These include:

- Georges Hall Community Centre

- Endeavour Hall (Revesby)

- Hurlstone Memorial Reserve Community Centre

A copy of the vendor's Public Liability Insurance Certificate, with a policy minimum of $20 million and listing Canterbury Bankstown Council as an Interested Party must be provided to Council prior to your event.

All jumping castles must be placed on their designated outdoor area and are not permitted inside the hall. No pegging of the jumping castle is permitted and any power or electricity requirements must come from a generator. No electrical cords are to be lead back to the hall or connected to power outlets inside the facility.
