Nature journalling

Deepen your love of nature through curiosity, observation and journaling.

Saturday 1 November, 8-10am

Nature journaling is like going on a mini adventure with your pencil and notebook! It’s all about sketching, scribbling, and jotting down what you see, hear, and feel in the great outdoors.

As a mindful practice of drawing or writing in response to the natural world, it’s a fun way to slow down and really notice the little things – like the curl of a leaf, the buzz of a bee, or the way sunlight dances on water. As you journal, you’ll start spotting more animals and plants, learning their names and figuring out where they live and what they do. And guess what? You’ll also get better at drawing, writing and observing – all without even trying!

Best of all, your journal becomes a treasure trove of memories, discoveries and doodles that are totally your own.

Ignite your curiosity about the natural world with facilitator Katy Wall, who will introduce you to nature journalling. Discover the practice of recording your personal observations of nature using pictures and words in a sketchbook/journal and in doing so, become more connected with our local environment. It’s fun, relaxing and no experience in drawing is necessary, with each person’s nature journal becoming a unique depiction of the world around us.

What to bring: Bring along sketchbooks/paper and your favourite drawing materials (pens, pencils, watercolour, acrylic, anything you have). There will be extra materials on the day if you want to explore other mediums.

Cost: A small fee ($10) applies to secure your spot and ensure attendance.

Registrations for this event will open from 9am, 22 October.

Note: This activity is not suitable for children under 12 years. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present for the duration of the event.
