Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, holes and bike jumps carry a safety risk to users of our parks and reserves. These sites also often become a dumping ground for rubbish which adds to the danger.
While the immediate risk to the environment may seem minor, our bushland areas are home to unique vegetation that provide important habitats that act as stepping stones to ensure the continued survival of some rare and threatened plant species in our City and across the Greater Sydney region.
In some cases, bike tracks may be tolerated where the jumps are having a low impact and offering a level of recreational value to the community.
We will continue to monitor the community-built bike tracks that we are aware of. Where there are any elements of the jumps and tracks that are considered unsafe or dangerous, or damaging to plants, these parts of the track will be removed.
