Dear resident,
This year, one of our most popular events is coming of age! Bankstown Bites is turning 21.
So, what’s made it so popular for so long? I think it’s because it’s more than just a food festival. It’s an event that brings our community together and welcomes thousands of people who come to Bankstown to share it with us.
This year it’s bigger than ever!
As an entree to the weekend’s activities, we’ve introduced an exciting new immersive experience, inviting you to come on a dinner crawl with us, hopping from one Bankstown restaurant to another on Wednesday 22 July.
Then the main course starts on Friday 24 July from 5-9pm. Choose dinner and dessert from 15 food stalls and trucks and keep cosy by our fire pits while listening to live broadcasts and music. Activities for the kids too!
The following day on Saturday 25 July from noon-6pm, a record number of stallholders (50!) will bring the taste of the world to Griffith Park.
Celebrity chef and MC Courtney Roulston (Coles Ambassador, host of Channel 10s Farm to Fork and MasterChef Australia All-Stars contestant) will light up our stage with her joy in food. She’ll be cooking live with food demonstrations, and I’ll be helping her out. (Or getting in her way!) Plus, you can hone your skills at our first ever BBQ Masterclass with chef and BBQ genius Ben Farley, founder of BBQ Cooking School.
Our ever-popular food tours will take you on a tasting adventure through the streets of Bankstown. Then, keep cosy by our fire pit, tasting some of the many cuisines while dance and music from around the world feed your ears. For kids, there will be sandwich art and cupcake decorating, as well as their own activity zone.
And you’ll be able to take home more than leftovers – our NEW mini market stalls mean you can grab fresh ingredients to recreate dishes at home.
I look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends to share food, fun and more at our 21st Bankstown Bites!
