Event to showcase dementia support options

People with dementia, carers and family members – along with those at risk of developing the condition and anyone interested in learning more – are being invited to take part in a FREE expo on Friday 26 September.

15 Aug 2025

An initiative of the Canterbury-Bankstown Dementia Alliance, the Treasure the Moment expo will give people the chance to connect with support services and learn more about living with dementia.

The expo will be held from 10am to 1pm at the Bryan Brown Theatre and Function Centre in Bankstown, with highlights to include:

  • A conversation with people living with dementia and carers
  • The chance to chat with people who offer support services
  • Information sessions and workshops

Bankstown Dementia Carers’ Group leader, Dianne Price, said the expo was a great opportunity to find out about helpful services people can use to manage the challenges that dementia presents.

“My mother was diagnosed with dementia back in the 1990s and you don't realise how much help there is actually out there now and the different sources,” Dianne said.

“The expo gives our group and all the other services the opportunity to show the community what each organisation does and where you can get help.”

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said Council was pleased to be supporting the expo and committed to creating dementia-friendly communities.

“This is an important event that raises awareness, reduces stigma and offers support,” he said.

“It also reminds people with dementia and their carers that they are valued members of our community.”
